Michael J. Steines

ROCKFORD - Michael J. "Mikey Santana" Steines, 34, Loving Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend was taken from us too soon on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Rockford on June 12, 1978 to William and Susan (Steines) Law. Mikey worked most of his life as a mechanic and working on computers. He was a fun loving guy with a giving heart, he was content just spending time with his family. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Maurice West who assisted Mikey at the scene. Survived by children, Nya Smith, Susan and Joshua Steines; siblings, Billy (Jennice), Wendell (Pat) Les, Jason (Stephenie) and Bonnie Law and Tressie Nesemeier; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by parents, and brother, Teddy Law. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all those who participated in the fundraiser this past weekend for Mikey: Bar 3 and the staff, the performers and entertainers (As One, Joey Columbine, Fists of Rage, Six Hour Sorrow, Ominous Grey, Gone for Days) and everyone that attended or donated time and talent. Mikey will be honored at a Memorial Service on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 5:00pm with a visitation from 3:00-5:00pm at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road. A Michael Steines memorial fund has been set up at Alpine Bank.
