Lawrence A. Schafer

Lawrence A. Schafer, 66, of Roscoe, IL, died of pancreatic cancer Sunday, November 18, 2007. Born February 3, 1941 in Denty County, Missouri, the son of William Arvil and Lydia (Moeller) Schafer. He was employed by White Sundstrand and Pfizer, retiring in 2003. He was on the Cadbury Trapshooting team and attended First Assembly of God in Rockford. He loved people and was always willing to help others. Survivors include his wife, Janice Spurgin Schafer of Roscoe; sons, David (Luanne) Schafer of Loves Park and Steven (Connie) Schafer of Durand; daughter, Deborah Brady of South Beloit; grandchildren, Matthew and Timothy Schafer of Loves Park, Zachary and Gabrielle Schafer of Durand; brothers, Calvin (Thelma) Schafer of Machesney Park, Wayne (Barb) Schafer of Athens, IL and Ralph (Dawn) Schafer of Spencer, WI; sisters, Nettie Freedlund of Pittsville, WI, Alice Schafer of Rockford, Neda (Melvin) Johnson of Loves Park, Paula Schafer of Pittsville, WI and Helen (Alan) Mernack of Rockford. Many thanks to the nurses and staff from Beloit Regional Hospice. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2007 in First Assembly of God Church, 5950 Spring Creek Rd., with Pastor Bob Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Visitation will also be from 10:00am to services Wednesday in the church.
