Dear Schultz family - My heart, and the heart of every mother, feels the pain of your tragic loss. But, the heart broken by addiction knows a deeper pain - one that pierces the soul. No amount of healing will ever take away all the pain, but your bravery has set you on a path of recovery. THANK YOU for naming the demon that stole your son. Those who do not know that demon need to be educated. They need to know that addiction affects everyone including their friends, neighbors, family, and community. My prayers are with you for continued strength. May peace find you and your family.

I too lost my oldest son to addiction 3 yrs ago. My other son and grandson are now finally in rehab for treatment. Absolutely no one can understand unless they have dealt with someone that has this horrible addiction. I am scared to death to lose another son or grandson to the devil. For years I did and tried everything imaginable to try to help. Several times in treatment didn't work and it takes forever to get in. The one thing I can say to you is there was Nothing you could have done. I still am very angry with my son but I know he just couldn't help himself. But as you can see many of us feel your pain and have been through it. Thank you for your candidness in the obit I know that wasn't easy. But this disease in ramped in this country. The Drug cartel and the dealers are getting rich off our children's lives. The memories are what we have left cherish them. Our children were great young men who didn't deserve this. I send my thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Dear Dr. Rob, Sue & family- we only knew your beautiful family for 6 short years while living in Illinois and being a part of the Roscoe UMC family & Stephen Ministry. As one in recovery, I weep today for the loss of yet another beautiful soul, Dane, to this brutal disease and the pain it leaves behind. Thank you for your honesty about his struggle. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. This will always be a fear of mine. Seems we can never know, we just do our best to be a supportive parent without nagging but lovingly encouraging. Maybe someday the area we live in will see we can use a place for these people to go get the support they need. Not send them across town to get help into an area full if the people supplying these terrible drugs. They need to get help with there head held high, to be able to say "yes, I have a drug problem but I am here for help!" Another place besides UMC. God Bless you!!đź’”

People need to know the ultimate devastation of this DISEASE.
