I was so sad to hear of mark's passing, I met mark years ago when he was working for WNTA. I met him online and we went out on a date, we struck up a friendship, he was very easy to get along with and my daughters really liked him. Mark was such a wonderful person, he was so smart and even tho he and I went on to do other things in our lives, I was so happy to of been able to reconnect with him last year. We exchanged stories of our life's stuggles and I always looked forward to chatting with him. I will always remember him.

What sad news about one of our absolute favorite newsmen! We adored Mark! Who didn't? In addition to being such a nice guy, he was the consummate professional newscaster and such a bright man. He could speak on any topic. He interviewed Valeri many times on utility issues when he was on WNTA, which we dearly and desperately miss still. He was always interested and had a great voice for radio and such an inquisitive mind for researching "true" news. This is a real tragedy for Rockford and our heart goes out to his family. We are still reeling from the loss of Chris Bowman and the lively debates on WNTA and now Mark is silenced too. We will miss the hearty laugh that accompanied his gentle spirit. Rest in peace good man and know that you were loved and will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to Mark's family from a former long time radio listener. His voice was greatly missed when he left the radio, but I know he enjoyed his job at WREX.

I enjoyed being on Mark's WNTA talk show. He was professional, charming, a great listener and commentator, and often sympathetic to, at least, getting the information out there. I enjoyed th discussions we had off the air, and when he moved to WREX, he was always kind and supportive of the non-profit organizations that needed Rockford's help. It was a surprise to hear of his death, and I mourn with the family and friends. Rockford lost a lovely voice.

News of Mark's passing was quite devastating to me as one of his junior high school teachers back in the late sixties. As I began my career, Mark was one of my very first students. At the time I also had a part time job in radio broadcasting in Joliet, Illinois some evenings and weekends. I set up an after school activity of a "radio club" for the students, and Mark was quick to join. It even included a "field trip" to the radio station in which I worked at the time, WAJP-FM. Mark was quite enthusiastic at that early age, and, as you know, made a career as a very professional broadcaster later in Rockford. Although he credited me as his influence, he soon became an inspiration to me, his former teacher as absolutely one of the very best. In addition to expressing my very sincere condolences to his family and all friends who knew him, I also sent a condolence to WREX-TV as well, and received a very kind reply from them. Mark truly was one who became an inspiration to his teacher as I was and apparently was inspired with his being a student in my class as well. May God bless him, his family, and all his friends as well. Very sincerely, Fred Mumaugh, Joliet, Illinois.

To Mark's family so very very sorry to hear of the passing of Mark I've known him for a number of years. As coroner I would talk to him several times throughout the week in reference to different cases. He was always easy to talk to. Mark always asked about the family - not for the news story but because his heart would go out to them. Even though I'm retired I will miss him and I will keep his family in my prayers

I was brought to tears by the news of Mark's passing. Just days ago, he sent me a box of gifts he'd collected for he on his last road trip. A fellow lover of Cars, Watches, Rock Music and general nostalgia--Mark was my friend. He gave me several words of encouragement on facebook every day--and I had a bad feeling Monday morning, when I didn't get my typical hello from him. He will be missed dearly. So kind. Gone so soon.
