Richard "Dick" Hackney

Richard "Dick" R. Hackney, Sr., 78, of Rockford, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.  Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 27, 1938 to Leslie S. and Imogene (Randle) Hackney.  He married Mary Batty on October 15, 1960 in Byron, IL and he served our country as a Marine.

Dick was an apartment manager for over 30 years.  He was an avid model builder his whole life and also a war historian.  He had a good sense of humor and loved hearing and also telling a good joke.  He especially loved his grandchildren and his beloved cat, Buttercup.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Randy (Sue Brunner) Hackney of Adams, WI; Kathy (Willoughby) Frisbie of Byron, IL; Jill (Travis) Stone of Rockford, IL; Mark (Cyndi Tucker) Hackney of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Chantelle (Jessie Quale) Hackney, Clarissa (Jason Barkley) Hackney, Chaunna Hackney, Brad Frisbie, Adam (Brittany) Frisbie, Shannon (Steven Henderson) Stone, Paige Stone, Jake Stone, Christopher (Sarah) Bright, Kyle (Jessica Halverson) Hackney, Frank Triplett, Austin Triplett, Tommy Hackney; and eight great-grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his parents; one brother and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 3:00pm with a visitation from 1:30pm until the service on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, IL 61111.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
