Mary J. Crittendon

Mary Jane Crittendon, 79, of Belvidere passed away peacefully on January 10, 2018.  Ms. Crittendon was born January 26, 1938 at home in VanCleve, KY to Strong and Susie (Hollon) Hatton.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (David) Brewer; son, Ron (Ruth) Crittendon; son, Bobby (Carol) Crittendon; daughter, Patricia (John) Hackworth; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by her brother, Arnold Hatton; sister, Elizabeth Spradlin (Fairfield, OH); daughter, Mary Szymanski and daughter, Phyllis Marie Crittendon. 

Aside from her immediate family, Mary’s passion in life was the numerous special needs children she cared for as a foster parent over many years. Most recently she fostered children through Kaleidoscope, a non-profit child welfare services organization. Mary was the recipient of many foster parenting service awards for ‘taking whatever comes and expecting no more and no less than her foster child could do."

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe 61073 with Elder Gary West officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Interment will immediately follow at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 IL Rt 76, Belvidere.
