William H. Radunz

William H. “Bill” Radunz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on June 23rd at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. A resident of Machesney Park, Illinois, and former longtime resident of Wilmette, Illinois, Bill lived a life defined by his entrepreneurial spirit, unwavering integrity, and devotion to family and many passions.

Born to James and Christine Radunz, Bill graduated from New Trier High School in 1965 and immediately embarked on a business career that would remain a passion for the entirety of his adult life.  Bill was extremely proud of his legacy as the founder and owner of Lake Shore Leasing Corporation and co-founder and co-owner of Arrow Car and Truck Rental. An honest and principled businessman, he led with conviction and earned the respect and trust of both those he worked with and the clients he served.

Bill married the love of his life, Sylvie, on February 10th, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois. Together they shared 48 wonderful years, building a family and a home filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bill had a lifelong love of cars - fitting for a man who made them the bulk of his life’s work - as well as boating on Lake Michigan, following the financial markets, and exploring history. Above all, his greatest joy was time spent with his children, grandchildren, and beloved pets. 

Bill is survived by his wife, Sylvie Radunz; his children, Chris (Elizabeth) Radunz and Erika (Scott) Slussar; his grandchildren, Logan and Scottie Slussar; his sister, Mary Ross (predeceased by her husband Cliff); his cherished dogs Max and Toni and loyal parrot Chi-Chi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Christine Radunz, his parents-in-law Dr. David and Joan Boville, and by his beloved dogs Corky, Fergie, and Fergie II.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him — a loyal family man, a shrewd businessman, and a true friend to every person and pet who was lucky enough to call him their own.   

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, specialists, staff, and hospice team at OSF St. Anthony in Rockford for the exceptional and compassionate care provided to Bill.
