William R. Spencer

William Randall “Randy” Spencer, 75, of Rockton, IL, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 surrounded by loved ones at home, after a 10 year battle with prostate cancer. Born February 16, 1949 in Princeton, IL, the son of Dalton and Charlotte Spencer. Graduated from Princeton High School, Class of 1967.

He worked in many professions over the years including construction, remodeling, general handyman work, and owned an equipment and video rental store, Blackhawk Rental. He had many hobbies and excelled in woodworking, including making different types of furniture and wood carvings. He loved to be in his shop working on different projects, and could fix just about anything.  He loved fishing, camping, puzzles, doing yard work, restoring and riding his motorcycles, and watching basketball and football.

Survivors include his life partner, Linda Gilbert of Rockton, IL; twin sons, Matthew Spencer, of Rockford, IL and Kenny (Julie) Spencer of Cherry Valley, IL; daughter, Lindsay (Aaron) Graceffa of Rockford, IL; and two granddaughters, McKenna Spencer and Mila Graceffa. Predeceased by his parents, Dalton and Charlotte Spencer; stepmother, Dorothy (Christiansen) Spencer; and sisters, Karen Jordan and Shirley Bell.

The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice staff for their compassionate care. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date by the immediate family.
