Willa "Joy" Meshberger went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 24, 2024. Joy was born in Berne, IN on January 7, 1935, daughter of Dennis and Lilly (Liechty) Steiner. She married Lester Meshberger on November 23, 1955. She and Lester moved to Rockford, IL in 1967.
While residing in Illinois, Joy was a member of Shiloh Evangelical Free Church for many years before becoming active with Maywood Evangelical Free Church. After moving to Wisconsin in 2022, she enjoyed attending services with her family at Thirst Church.
She enjoyed her career in retail, working at Lenz Pharmacy and Partyland for many years.
Joy is survived by her son, Lyle [Jamie] Meshberger; grandchildren, Taylor and Hailey of Oconomowoc, WI; sister, Cosetta Roth of Lynden, WA; two nephews, Scott [Karyn] Ellenberger of Maple Park, IL and Tim [Joanie] Roth of Everson, WA; their children, Sam [Danae], Nick [Kelsey], and Annie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parent, Dennis and Lilly Steiner; her stepmother, Orpha Steiner; her sister, Alverda Ellenberger; and her brothers-in-law, Howard Ellenberger and Sherman Roth.
Memorial service will take place at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd, Rockford, IL 61109 at 11:00am on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service followed by lunch. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd., Rockford, IL 61109 in memory of Willa Joy Meshberger.
