As a first-generation Italian-American, Vida grew up in South Rockford surrounded by her extended Italian family. In that community, she formed her work ethic, learned to cook our favorite meals, and was immersed in love and laughter.
Her children, grandchildren, and friends will remember her always for her fierce love, boundless support, sharp humor, no-nonsense guidance, and endless generosity.
She was dedicated to her extensive career as a volunteer coordinator at a Rockford mental health day treatment facility and was recognized for that work as a recipient of both state and national service awards.
Vida was a force—now, an eternal one—that we will cherish forever.
We are honoring her wish to decline a memorial service. Vida is resting in the Crematorium Memorial Gardens, near Plot 32, at Scandinavian Cemetery (off Rural, enter on Guilford Road), where family and friends are welcome to visit her.
