Timothy Scott Johnson passed away on October 11, 2021 at the age of 59, after a long battle with a neurodegenerative disease. With the help of long-time family friend and caregiver, Daisy, he was able to maintain his dignity and remain in his home surrounded by his family and golden retriever, Lily.
Tim was born to Norris and Sonja Johnson on February 24, 1962. After high school, he completed his electrical certification before working at Camcar Textron as a machinist and supervisor for 18 years. Tim was not one to sit still for long and had many talents including carpentry, mechanics and entrepreneurship. He owned and operated a landscaping business, pool installation business and trucking business.
Tim has an adventurous spirit and enjoyed racing cars at the speedway, dirt biking, snowmobiling, snow skiing and has over 200 skydiving jumps under his belt. He enjoyed many summers boating and barefooting at the family cabin on Lake George. There was even a time or two where you could catch him innovating a way to waterski on the frozen lake in the middle of winter. He also spent many weekends at the lake with his friend and brother-in-law, Greg, rebuilding the cabin so that it could be enjoyed by many generations to come. Of all his loves, his greatest was teaching his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and how to have fun! Tim had a special place in his heart for children and animals.
Tim has two brothers, Craig and Bradley that passed earlier this year. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jill (Rathke) Johnson. His memory and spirit will carry on in his 3 children, Yvonne (Tom Andler) Johnson, Jenelle (Mike) Kerry and Matthew (Jess) Johnson; and his 9 grandchildren, Alexxis, James, Kaiden, Lucien, Grant, Gavin, Sophia, Elijah, and Elsie.
A visitation will be held in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM with a funeral service to immediately follow. A celebration of life dinner will be held immediately after in Tim’s daughter’s home.
