Tia Marie Lewis

Tia Marie Lewis, born September 13, 1967, in Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, in her hometown. She was 56 years old.  Tia was a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nancy Elizabeth Espe and Robert Eugene Smith, as well as her sister, Tonya Michelle Smith Swanson. We hope she was greeted by her beloved cat, Moe.

Tia's legacy lives on through her surviving children, Mercedes Michelle Brain (Tyler), Macey Marie Jones (Hunter), and Joren James Lewis (Kaleigh Swafford), along with their father, James Lewis. Also her beloved grandchildren, Elliana and Emelia Brain, and Sevryn Jones, brought immense joy to her life.

Tia was engaged to her long-term partner, Thomas Hayes, with whom she shared a deep and loving bond. She is also survived by her sister, Trina Smith Slocum; her brother, Michael Smith; her bonus parents, Pat and Mike Hayes, who embraced her as their own; and her special friend, Kelli. Tia will also be remembered by many extended family members.

A dedicated employee, Tia worked as an Inside Sales Representative at Rockford Process Control since 1995. Throughout the years, the company changed ownership to Modern Forge, but Tia’s unwavering commitment and passion for her work remained constant.

Tia's life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep sense of family. She was the glue that held her family together, always putting others before herself. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Swedish American Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

Memorial service will be at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park with a visitation from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.
