Thurlow "Ted" W. Jones

Thurlow "Ted" W. Jones, 94, of Rockford, IL, passed away after a long illness on February 15, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1930, in Rockford to his parents, Perley and Blanche (Kinn) Jones.  Ted attended East High School in Rockford and went on to serve in the United States Navy from May 20, 1947, to January 26, 1950, as an aviation metalsmith. His time in the Navy was a source of great pride throughout his life. He drove semi-trucks for a long period of time for work. Ted retired from the Oklahoma Highway Department, where he spent many years of his career.

Ted had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy, including fishing, woodworking, and playing cribbage. He cherished the time spent with family and friends and will be remembered for his kind heart and easygoing nature.

Ted is survived by his children, Rebecca (Kenneth) Langston and Jeffrey Jones; grandchildren, Timothy Rathke, Stephanie Youngren, Hillary (Sean) Ducote, Amanda (Doug) Wehrman, and Michael (Nick Graham) Jones; great-grandchildren, Holly Shields and Linkin Wehrman; special friend, Pat Kane.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Halsne) Jones; parents, Perley and Blanche Jones; daughter-in-law, Joyce Jones.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Alpine Fireside and Mercy Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Ted in his final days.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory–Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, at 12:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere.
