Thomas Horcher Obituary

On March 23, 2024, Thomas R. Horcher peacefully passed away at the age of 61 in Rockton, Illinois. Born on May 15, 1962 to Richard “Chip” and Joann Horcher in Highland Park, Illinois, Tom was the first and oldest of three boys, preceding brothers, Alan (Lisa) and Mark (Suzanne) in birth. In 1987 he married Connie Horcher (Harrigill) and raised two children, Lane and Leah.

Tom was a 1980 graduate of Buffalo Grove High School. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in aviation from Northeast Louisiana University. After college he attended Federal Aviation School in Oklahoma City to become an air traffic controller. He started his career at the Aurora airport followed by Rockford airport, Milwaukee airport, and finishing at the Chicago C90 tracon. Over the years he received many commendations for his service. Tom was an avid sports fan and was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan. He loved coaching youth and high school sports as his kids grew up. He was the head coach of Hononegah bowling for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his children, Lane Horcher and Leah (Jordan) Backstrom; his brothers, Alan (Lisa) Horcher and Mark (Suzanne) Horcher; and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Chip” and Joann Horcher.
