Thomas (Tom) William George passed away from natural causes on July 11, 2026. Tom was born on February 17, 1942, in Beloit, WI, to Donald and Helen (McLean) George.
Tom lived most of his life in the Roscoe, IL area. He lived in Chandler, AZ, for about 16 1/2 years, then retired from Sears to return to Roscoe to be closer to family and local friends.
Tom married the love of his life on November 25, 1961, in Beloit, WI. They were happily married for over 62 years until Barb passed away in 2024. The fall after Tom graduated he ran into Barb at the Roscoe Fall Festival, and when he found out she was available, he followed her around like a puppy dog, then and for the next 64 years.
Tom went to Hononegah High School. He was a natural salesperson. He worked for WTVO and WCEE (now WIFR). In 1978, he started to work for Fisher’s Appliance and worked for them until moving to Arizona in 1986.
Tom loved to read, fish and spent many hours on his tablet. He was very knowledgeable about Roscoe history and loved to share that knowledge with anyone. He enjoyed getting together regularly for brunch with his remaining classmates and getting together with the men from his church when his health allowed.
What he loved most was his family and friends. He adored his granddaughter, Jaydyn, and his great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Lilith. His best friend was his fur baby, Barney, who passed away in 2025.
He is survived by his son, Jeff (Cathy) George, and daughter, Debbie George; grandchildren, Matt (Kat) George and Jaydyn Stroud; and great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Lilith George. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Earleywine; sisters-in-law, Connie Jersild and Cookie Severson; brothers-in-law, Tom (Ginger) Severson and Gregg (Natalie) Severson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, Don and Helen George; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marion and Lorraine Severson; and his brother, Don George. Also his brothers-in-law, Jerry Severson, Dennis Hall, Bob Earleywine, and John Jersild; as well as his ex-son-in-law, Chris Stroud.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a celebration of Thomas' life will take place on Saturday, July 25th, with a memorial service at 2 pm at The First Congregational Church in Roscoe. The family invites attendees to stay after the celebration and join them for a luncheon.
