Thomas M. Bergman

Thomas Michael Bergman, 53, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, after a sudden illness. He was born November 20, 1968, in Rockford, IL, the son of Ronald Martin Bergman and Sandra Kay (Wilder) Onley. He resided at Rocvale Children’s Center in Rockford from age 12 to 21 and shortly thereafter at Mabley Development Center in Dixon, IL, until his death.  His mentors at Rocvale and Mabley repeatedly commented that he was always friendly and a joy to be with.

He is survived by his father, Ronald Bergman of Rockford, IL; mother, Sandra Onley of Rockford, IL; sister, Rhonda Marie (Fred) Wiggins of Rockford, IL; brother, Timothy Martin (Cindy) Bergman of Rathdrum, ID; six stepbrothers and stepsisters, Brian Rasmussen, Teresa "Terri" Beyer, Kim (Rich) Sade, John (Anne) Rasmussen, Mary (Katy) Rasmussen-Ogles; Thomas (Joy) Rasmussen; two uncles, Gary Bergman of Marion, IA, and Robert (Dolores) Bergman of Gainesville, FL; one aunt, Patricia (Terry) Bates of Machesney Park, IL; and numerous cousins and step-cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved stepmother, Carole; aunt, Glenna Bergman; and stepbrother-in-law, Ralph "Butch" Beyer.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, August 26, 2022 in St. Bridget Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park, IL 61111.  Mass will be followed by a light luncheon and then interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 8616 West State Road, Winnebago, IL 61088.  Instead of flowers, please consider a gift to the family for a fund in Tom's name to be determined.
