Susan R. Potter

Susan R. Potter, 72, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle against cancer. Born on June 17, 1952, in Rockford, IL to her parents, Anthony and Victoria (Deblase) Mauro. Susan married the love of her life, George K. Potter Jr. on September 20, 1985. 

Susan was known for her warm heart, her love of family, and her infectious enthusiasm for the simple pleasures in life. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Whether it was playing slot machines, shopping at Hidden Treasures, going to garage sales and flea markets, or enjoying a quiet day of fishing, Susan’s passion for life was evident in everything she did. She also loved to gather with her family to watch the “Cobra Kai” series, often sharing memorable moments from the show. Her family and friends will remember her for her kind spirit, her sense of adventure, and her unwavering love for those around her.

The family would like to specially thank all the staff at The OSF Cancer Center for their tender care and support throughout Susan’s battle.

Susan is survived by her children, Susie (Billie) Jennings, Timothy (Stacy) Roggensack, Stephanie (Adam) Glass, Amber Potter, Victoria (Mike) Potter-Bridgeman, and George Drummer; grandchildren, Heather, Hailey, Holly,  Ana, Marissa, Angelina, Hannah, Josh, Matt, Justin, Ryan, and Victoria; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Violet Hegbom and Victoria Stallman; brothers, Alfred Mauro, Anthony (Jo) Mauro, and Gerry (Chi) Mauro; fur babies, Casey and Kya.

Preceded in death by her husband, George K. Potter Jr.; parents, Anthony and Victoria Mauro; sisters, Maria and Yolanda; brothers, Raymond and Rolando.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 9:30 AM, at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. Entombment will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
