Shirley Clark Obituary
Shirley M. (Dinkins) Clark, 92, of Rockford went home to be with her Heavenly Father on January 8, 2022. Born May 23, 1929, in Tekamah, Nebraska to Lee and Hattie (Peterson) Dinkins. She married the love of her life, Chester Clark, on June 1, 1949; they shared 63 beautiful years together before he passed in 2012. She worked for many years in the patient accounts department of Rockford Memorial Hospital (a member of the “20 year club”). Shirley and Chester were active members of First Assembly of God (now City First Church) in Rockford for many years. She was a loving, faithful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, a true Proverbs 31 woman. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by daughter, Penny (Shane) Fox; grandchild, Haley Fox; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Mary Lou Johnson, Vera Schrantz, and Barbara Jean Dinkins.
The family extends deep gratitude to the OSF hospice team and her caregivers, Vira and Marta, who took such excellent care of her and allowed her to remain at home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL.
