Shirley Ann Campbell-Green, 86, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022.
Shirley was born July 31, 1935 in Bringham, WI to Ralph and Violet Campbell. Shirley was a fiercely independent woman, blazing her own trail in life, long before it was fashionable to do so. She was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, serving from 1954-1957. Working most of her adult life, she retired in 2010. Shirley became an active member of her church, Third Presbyterian in Rockford, participating in the quilting club and other church activities. She loved classic country music, card games, reading and the daily crossword puzzles in the newspaper. Shirley had a special talent for cooking and baking, her desserts were always highly requested including her chocolate chip cookies. What Shirley cherished most, however, was time spent with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Scott (Jan) Halfacre and William Halfacre III; her five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Curtis) Emory, Amanda (Melissa) Pearce, Samantha Halfacre, William (Kristen) Halfacre IV and Heather (Thomas Rozell) Halfacre; and ten great grandchildren, Hayden, Autumn, Luke, Madison, Wyatt, Kennedy, Ava, Hannah, Nathaniel and Dorothy; as well many nieces and nephews. Shirley was welcomed in Heaven by her parents, Ralph Campbell and Violet Lyman; sisters, Cerise Smith, Carol Renk, and Donna Benner; and close friend, Sally Peterson. Special thanks and love to her dear friend Janice Gallagher for the love and support you gave her, and to her church family at Third Presbyterian.
The family will announce information regarding a memorial in the near future.
