Sherrie MacMurchy, 74, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Sherrie was born in Rockford, IL on August 4, 1945 to Joseph and Louise Inglima. She graduated from West High School in 1963 and married her first love David MacMurchy on April 9, 1965. They raised a family together until his passing in 1999. She later met Richard Hammond, and married him on October 19, 2013. She was a lifelong Rockford resident.
Sherrie had a fire for Jesus and studied the Bible with a passion. She shared that with everyone she met. Nothing gave her more pleasure than talking about our Lord and Savior with others. She exemplified a Christian life through charities, church, encouragement, understanding, forgiveness, faith, and devotion.
Throughout her life she was a rock of support for family. Her kids were her first priority, and she faithfully supported them in all their pursuits. She participated in bowling leagues, dart leagues, and many bible studies. She loved computers and enjoyed helping organize and print Christian newsletters. She also loved animals, especially her dogs Buddy and Gizmo. She will be missed so much by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Hammond; her children, Charles (Allison) MacMurchy, Joseph (Kimberly) MacMurchy, and Tracey (Mike Vasquez) MacMurchy; grandchildren, Noah (Haley), Sydney (Elijah), Benjamin, and Isaac; sisters, Pat (Ron) Arbisi and Sandi Leombruni, sisters-in-law, Jan Creviston and Mary Jane MacMurchy; brother-in-law, Ron MacMurchy; extended family members, mother-in-law, Barbara Hammond; sister-in-law, Chezelle (Don) Wennmacher; brother-in-law, William (Connie) Hammond, and Cristina, Leslie, Renee, Kathryn, and Ryan; and many neices, nephews, and cousins.
