Sharon Austin Obituary

Sharon B. (Stelter) Austin was born in Eau Claire, WI to Floyd and Josephine (Stewart) Stelter. She passed away peacefully in Janesville, WI on May 18, 2025 with family by her side.

Sharon lived a vibrant unconventional life marked by a love of travel and adventure, a flair for the entrepreneurial, and deep-rooted independence. She married Bob Austin (later divorced) and together they had four children in Monroe, WI. There she wore many hats: church pianist, school bus driver and participated in stock car races. She had a creative spirit owning both a wig shop and a bridal boutique, later expanding her work into beauty supply sales and a traveling notary business.

After many moves, Sharon found a lasting home in Phoenix, AZ where she spent 35 years enjoying the sun and desert landscape. She owned her own business there and participated in the Ms. Senior Arizona Pageant, a nod to her enduring sense of style and presence. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining, and wherever she lived, she cheered for NASCAR and her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Sharon is survived by her children: Kari (Mike) Young, Kevin (Nikki) Austin, Karen (George) Evans and Keith (Mary-Lyn) Austin; by 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also, her surviving siblings: Mike Stelter, Sue Stelter, Darla Stelter-Cripe, Jill (Dan) Cripe, Rick (Regina) Stelter; and sister-in-law, Evie Stelter.  She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Ron Stelter.

Her family would like to thank Agrace Hospice and the incredible staff at Our House Assisted Living in Janesville, WI, for their love and care shown to Sharon.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date in Wisconsin.
