Shane Joseph “Dad, Shaner Baner” Welte, 37, of Rockton, IL died unexpectedly at home with his family on July 25, 2025. Born in Rockford, IL on June 5, 1988, to his parents Thomas Welte and Jeanine Eyster. Shane was a 2006 Boylan High School graduate. Shane married the love of his life, Ashley (Baldwin) Welte; they had been together for 17 years and married for 9 years and share two beautiful children. They would have celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary this October 10th.
Shane worked for the Indoor Sports Center, where he actually met his wife. He had also worked for Sonco Pools, where he found his passion for carpentry and lead to him starting his own business in 2018 called Welte Remodeling and Construction. Shane was so proud of his accomplishment starting his own business. Shane enjoyed spending his time with his family, especially his wife and kids. He also liked to cook, go fishing, and golfing. Shane had a big heart and personality to match. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
Shane is survived by his wife, Ashley Welte; children, Caleb (11 years) and Rylee (8 years); parents, Tom (Kim) Welte and Jeanine (Wilbur) Eyster; brothers, Thomas J. (Sarah) Welte and Nathan (Michaela Parker) Welte; 10 nieces and nephews, whom he loved and always supported; special friends, Joey (Kara) Sallee and Zach (Lindsay) Castronovo; bulldog, Bane. Predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Lorraine Welte and Stan and Jean Metzler; uncles, James Welte, Tom Metzler and James Metzler.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home–Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111, at 4:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 12:00 noon until time of service. Memorials may be made to his wife, Ashley and their children.
