Sarah Piper Obituary

Sarah Jean (Cowan) Piper went to her eternal home in Heaven on January 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving spouse of 22 years, Timothy Alan Piper and her adoring children, Hayden Charles Piper and Chloe Rosemary Piper.  Family, in every sense, was the most important thing in Sarah’s life. She was determined and strong and had an invincible spirit for life. Her kind, thoughtful, creative soul made her a fearless advocate for anyone in need. Even in her journey through cancer, when anyone else would have broken, Sarah remained strong by focusing on those around her, doing whatever was necessary to ensure her family and friends were well cared for. Through Sarah’s life, we have an unforgettable reflection of love, faith, perseverance and resilience.

Sarah was born May 26, 1978 in Belvidere, IL, to Bruce and Janet (Sykuta) Cowan. She is survived by her husband; children, Tim, Hayden, and Chloe Piper; parents, Bruce and Janet Cowan; sister, Heidi (Vito) Valerio; brothers, Craig (Colleen) Cowan and Benjamin (Sarah) Cowan; father and mother-in-law, Randy and Mary Jo Piper; brother in-law, Scott Piper; and sister in-law, Holly (Ryan) Rowntree.

“Auntie Sarah” was adored and will be missed greatly by all, but especially by her nieces and nephews, Anthony, Vincenzo, Matteo and Emiliano Valerio, Miles, Norah, and Madeleine Cowan, Ava and Eloise Cowan, Chase and Joanna Rowntree.

Sarah’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and caregivers from Beloit Regional Hospice for their amazing compassion and care. We also extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of UW Carbone Cancer Center and UW Hospital, Madison, WI for their care and guidance. Our family also wishes to express very special and heartfelt thanks to Sarah’s many friends, neighbors, and colleagues for their incredible love and support.
