Sarah Jenkins

Sarah Jenkins, 78, of Rockford, was called home with her family by her side on Friday, July 12, 2024.  She was born in Memphis, TN, and moved with her family to Detroit, MI and then Chicago, IL.  She spent over 45 years with her husband and best friend, Donald D. Jenkins, who preceded her in death in 2015.  She was a graduate of Marshall High School, Chicago and also Concordia University, Chicago, where she studied Business Administration, Management and Leadership.  She was a manager at Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois where she worked for over 30 years, retiring in 2009.  She enjoyed reading (her favorite author was Walter Mosley), traveling (her favorite place was Hilton Head, SC), and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Hope Dolley Jackson (Mark) and Dawn Danielle Jenkins; grandchildren, Krystal Dolley Fox (Joseph), Elexis Jackson, Ashanti Jackson and Katara York; great-grandchildren, Jahara (14), Kailee Ann (9), Noah (9), Journey (8), Ja'Sire (6), Jesus (4) and E'Mari (3); and a host of nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her husband, Donald D. Jenkins; parents, Dan Dolley and Correne Young Dolley; sisters, Addie Dolley, Maebelle Green, Marie Burke and Murlene Dolley; and brothers, Lonnie Dolley, Dan Dolley, Jr., Richard Dolley and Leroy Dolley.
