Sandra "Sandy" Stierman

Sandra “Sandy” Jean Stierman, 87, of Rockford, IL, passed away with family by her side on Saturday, October 18, 2025.  She was born on November 25, 1937, daughter of Galen and Jeanette (Ahlgren) Ballard. She was raised and educated in Rockford and graduated from East High School in 1956.  On January 29, 1972, Sandy married Robert Stierman in Rockford, and they shared over 50 years of marriage.

Sandy was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She enjoyed painting, golfing, and attending family gatherings. She worked as a Legal Secretary for most of her life.

She is survived by her children, Gail Daer, Gary Walt, Gregg (Keli) Walt, Charlie (Lynn) Stierman, and Barbara (Rudy) Schmidt; grandchildren, Dan (Shelia) Stierman, Leslie (Matthew) Pearlson, Aaron (Erin) Thor, Robert (Carol) Thor, Cassandra Daer, Stephanie (Kevin) Lawson, Ryan (Tabitha) Walt, Tiffany (Michael) Woulfe, Troy Schmidt, Nathan (Jessie) Walt, Trevor (Megan) Walt, Scott (Kristen) Rodseth, Steve (Ashley) Rodseth, and Trenton Mohwinkle; along with several great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Sue (Tony) Askea, and sisters-in-law, Drue Ballard and Patty Ballard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Stierman; her daughter, Cynthia Stierman; her parents, Galen and Jeanette Ballard; her brothers, Ronald and Randy Ballard; granddaughter, Michelle Walt; and son-in-law, Mark Rodseth.
