The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anthony Hospital, P.A. Peterson and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion in making sure all of Sam’s needs were met and provided excellent medical care.

Nick and Sharon, so sorry for your loss. When Sam and I were younger we were best of friends. I still consider him to be one of my all time best friends. He was the Best Man in our wedding almost 54 years ago! The adventures we have had over the years are legionary! Our trip to CA, when we were just out of high school was one of the best times of both our lives...and the stories live on! We experienced so many things it is hard to just limit it to a few words here... Climbing Longs Peak in CO (even if he didn't make it to the top), caving in Maquoketa, IA, hanging out with the Tyo's (Mickie, Thea and Bobby), going to movies theaters wherever we might be, driving down to DeKalb for a Whopper (long before we had a Burger King in Rockford), and of course meeting "Mike the Moon" and family in Louisiana! Due to the pandemic I haven't seen Sam as often as I used to but I will miss him dearly!   Sam, you will be missed!  Best Friend always, Joe K.
