Salvatore Joseph Costanza, 84, of Roscoe, Illinois, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2021 surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. Salvatore “Sal” was born on September 17, 1936 to Charles Vincent Costanza and Mamie Vullo in the bustling city of Amite, LA. Sal enlisted in the Air Force at a young age and is a veteran of the Korean War. Sal was honorably discharged in 1960.
After his service, Sal worked as a butcher for the Logli grocery store chain. Sal retired in 2003 after 43 years in the field. While retired, Sal had time to pursue his love of fishing, cowboy movies, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a good husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed.
Sal is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Ecklor; his children, Salvatore Jr. “Desi” Costanza, Anthony Costanza; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Ecklor, Melanie Ecklor and Kent (Kate) Ecklor; five grandchildren, Jorden (Luke) Schwartz, Devin (Taylor Reynolds) Murray, Erin (Seth) Lindstrom, Luke Costanza and Logan Costanza; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Costanza; his father, Charles Costanza; brother, Lee Costanza; sister, Mary Gillis; former wife, Dixie; and son-in-law, Steve Ecklor.
