Ruby Louise Palmer Obituary

On Saturday, September 5th, 2020 at 12:06 am, Ruby Louise Palmer, 79, of Rockford, Illinois, went home to be with Jesus surrounded by her beloved family.  Born April 7th, 1941, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, Lou was the daughter of Virgie and Robert Bates and the youngest of nine children. Lou grew up in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from East High School. She married George Davis on August 8th, 1960 and they raised two children of their own. She and George were involved heavily in their church, First Assembly of God, in Rockford, leading the young adult group, local missions and discipling many individuals. On September 11th, 1974, George went home to be with the Lord.

Lou was married to Clayborn Palmer on December 8th, 1978, and they spent the next 27 years residing in Rockford, raising children, building several homes and traveling to Mission, Texas during the winters where they did fifteen years of missions work. Clay went to be with the Lord on December 6th, 2005.

Lou was a strong and courageous daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother,  great-grandmother and friend. She had a passion for her family and extended family praying for them constantly. She loved to paint, travel and always extended a helping hand when needed. She was a skilled cook and always showed up at family gatherings with something amazing from her kitchen. Lou later moved to Chandler, Arizona to be with her children and love on her grandchildren as well. She had a strong faith and shared it with all those around her always giving glory to her heavenly Father for all He had brought her through. Lou was very generous and led by example teaching her children and grandchildren the virtues of giving. Written in the front page of her Bible is a quote that sums up how she lived her life - “Until your misery factor exceeds your fear factor you won’t move.” Lou constantly moved past her fears to face life’s trials with grace and humility. She has left a legacy of love that continues to impact many generations.

Lou is survived by her two children - Rev. Brad Davis (Becky) and Brenda Rempel (Rev. Mark) along with her step-children - Stan (Debbie) Palmer, Steve Palmer, Clayton (Debbie) Palmer and Kathy (Charlie) Roos. She has 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
