Roxanne Dae Fornander, 72, of Machesney Park, IL. passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. She was born July 26, 1953, in Oak Park, IL. The daughter of Frances and Joni (Day) Fitzgerald.
Roxanne dedicated more than 30 years of her life to nursing, a career that reflected her deep compassion, strength, and commitment to caring for others. Through her work, she touched countless lives with her kindness, professionalism, and steady presence. Above all else, Roxanne will be remembered for her love of family, her generous heart, and the quiet strength with which she lived her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion that will continue through all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ernest L. Fornander, whom she married on October 11, 1991. Their marriage was marked by enduring love, partnership, and commitment. Roxanne is also survived by her brother, Kurt Jones (Tammy); and her sister, Adrienne Johnson (Derek). She leaves behind a large and loving family, including her children, Desiree Lang (Abel), Vikki Murray, Amy Clark (Jason), Brian Murray (Christina), Sandra Cohen (Michael), Scott Fornander (Allison), Stephen Fornander, Sarah Fornander, and Sean Fornander (Amy). Roxanne was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Joni Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Round Lake American Legion, 111 E. Main Street, Round Lake, IL 60073. Family and friends are welcome to gather and share memories in honor of Roxanne’s life.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
