Ronald "Ron" J. Bonzi

Ronald “Ron” Bonzi, 67, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully with family by his side on July 26, 2025. Born in Rockford on December 11, 1957, to his parents, William L. Bonzi I and Geraldine L. Folland. He graduated from East High School in 1975 and attended RVC and DePaul University.

Ron was employed most of his life as a computer systems analyst and also enjoyed a career in music. Ron lived in Chicago for many years and was an avid Bulls, Cubs, and Bears fan. His passion was music and in the 80’s he was in several Rockford music bands. After that, he continued to write and record music with his brother, Don. They would produce albums under the name “RnD”. He also promoted the annual Mother’s Day concerts at Anna Page Park. He truly loved sharing music with others.

Ron is survived by his spouse, Sandra Bonzi; siblings, Charmaine Rebelak, Susan Lundgren, Denise Wilson and Don (Haydee) Bonzi; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Predeceased by his parents, Bill and Geri Bonzi; brother, Bill (Kim) Bonzi, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Bruce Rebelak, Chuck Lundgren, and Randy Wilson.

A memorial service will be held for Ron on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Honquest Family Funeral Home, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL, 61111, at 4:00 PM, with a visitation starting at 3:00 PM until time of service.
