Ronald Dye Obituary

Ronald J. Dye, 82, of Roscoe passed away January 21, 2024.  He was born on September 8, 1941 to Maurice J. Dye and Gladys E. (Pumroy) Dye.  He was a Hebron High School Class of 1959 graduate.  Ronald began his career as a heavy equipment operator with Northern Indiana Public Service Co. in Valparaiso, IN. He worked at US Steel in Gary, IN from 1964-1974 before relocating his family to Braidwood, IL where he worked as a machinist at Mobil Oil Joliet Refinery until 1992. Post retirement from Mobil Oil, Ron worked several years as a machinist at a couple of different small local companies in Roscoe, IL before becoming a chase driver for Greater Rockford Auto Auction which he did until 2021.

Ron enjoyed woodworking and he spent many hours working in his shop building beautiful pieces of furniture. He was great at fixing or repairing things and always had an eye for solving even the most complex mechanical issues. He also had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He traveled all over the US on his motorcycle and enjoyed many annual motorcycle trips with his younger brother, Jerry, over the years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Catherine L Witchek; children, Mary E. (Brad) Cauffman, Ronald J. Dye, Jr., Robert L. Dye, Steven (Maggie) Martensen, Mary (Mark) Kosirog, Michael (Beata) Krupa; grandchildren, James (Alisha) Dye, Jessica and Siliana Martensen, Megan (Wally) Faris, William, David, Michael and Rebecca Krupa, Olivia and Isabella Wieczorek; great-grandchildren, Parker, Max and Olivia Dye; brother, Jerry (Chris) Dye; nieces, Roxann Dye and Angela (Joe) Nemeth; and great-nephew, Conner Kerner.  Predeceased by his parents; former spouse, Elizabeth J. Weigt and brother, Robert L. Dye.

 A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring of 2024 and details will be made available closer to that time.
