Roger A. Lloyd Sr.

Roger A. Lloyd Sr., 82, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Roger was born on December 13, 1943, in Rockford, Illinois, to Vernon Emory Lloyd and Elennor Bernice (Paweloyk) Lloyd. He married the love of his life, Barbara J. Lloyd, on October 5, 1996, at Grace Lutheran Church in Rockford.

After graduating from East High School, Roger began a successful career that included work on a NASA space shuttle and employment with Sundstrand Corporation. Following many years of dedicated service, he retired in 1999.

Roger enjoyed spending time fishing and was an avid fan of midget racing. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured the time spent with family and friends.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Barbara J. Lloyd; her children, Sherry (Karen “Doc”) Roach-Linn, and Gary Roach Jr.; his children, Natasha (Mark) Lei and Roger Lloyd Jr.; granddaughter, Mary Lei; his brother, Emory (Linda) Lloyd; his niece, Carolyn Colucci; his nephew, Dana (Paula) Lloyd; his cousin, Noreen (Dennis) Gilbert; sister in-law, Mary White (Chuck); brother in-laws, Bill (Karen) Spencer, Leo (Diana) Sanchez, David Sanchez, Steve (Gay) Sanchez, and Tom Hernandez; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Elennor Lloyd; his warrior princess Xeena the cat; and brother in-laws, Bob Spencer and Bruce Spencer.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Michelle, PA, Abby, Director of Nursing, and the entire staff at Peterson Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Special thanks are given to his CNAs, especially Sheila and Kiera, for their kindness and dedication.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, Illinois 61111. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Arlington Cemetery in Rockford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary in Roger's memory.
