Robin A. Close

Robin Ann Close, 59, passed away on January 23, 2025, with family and friends by her side. Robin was born on August 18, 1965, to Joseph Gerald Close and Mary Pat Close (Barrett) in Dubuque, Iowa. She resided at Walter Lawson Children’s Home since 1978. She lived her whole life with Cerebral Palsy.

We want to send a special Thank You to Jan Primuth and the whole Walter Lawson Family for taking such good care of Robin for all these years.

She may not have been able to walk or talk, but Robin had more life and fight in her than the rest of us. She loved it when the kids would get yelled at, she thought it was just the funniest thing. Her favorite and only thing she could say was “outta here” and she made sure to let everyone know when she was ready to leave. Robin was the queen wherever she went.

Robin is survived by her mother, Mary Pat Close; brother, Joseph (Kokie) Close; sister-in-law, Fran Close; god-mother, Kay (Bill) Roach; nieces, Megan Bagley, Mandy Petry, Elaine Close and Tiffany Powell; nephews, Logan Close, William Close and Brandon Bagley; several other nieces and nephews; great-nieces, Addyson Allen, Kendall Berndt, Layla Berndt, Izzy Powell, Marianna and Bailey; great-nephews, Connor Allen, Aiden Bagley, Kade Hornback and Leon Powell.

Preceded in death by her father, Joseph Close; sister, Patricia (Patty Jo) Bagley; brothers, Jeffrey Gerald and William (Billy/Luck Lock) Close; maternal grandparents, Leo and Lois (Correll) Barrett; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lorrine Close.

Service will be on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073, at 11:00 AM, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  Burial following in Rockton Cemetery, Rockton.
