Robert J. Schnell

Robert Junior Schnell, 79, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022, in Swedish American Hospital. Born February 13, 1943, in Charleston, IL. to Robert and Lorine (Bennett) Schnell. He married Margaret Combs on July 11, 1969, in Rockford. Robert was a veteran of the US Army for 3 years. He then worked as an automotive mechanic for 25 years and at auctions for a long time. He worked at Amcore Bank as a mail clerk for several years. Then Robert retired and enjoyed his life going to garage sales, flea markets and the Pec Thing in Pecatonica. He also enjoyed going to Johnny Pamcakes and Cracker Barrel with his loving family. He always liked telling his stories about the military and his younger days. Robert enjoyed time with his family and made everyone laugh with his jokes. He will be truly missed by family and friends.
 

Survivors include children, Scott Schnell, Robert (Sarah) Schnell; grandchildren, Christian, Rosie, and Matthew; sister, Donna; and niece, Rhonda (Bob) Black. Predeceased by his wife, Margaret; his parents; siblings, Marcella Schwarz and Ron Schnell; and grandson, Anthony Schnell.

The family would like to thank Swedish American Hospital, Dr. Khan and his staff for taking good care of him as well as the chaplain at the hospital for his kind words and prayers for the family.
 

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory- Mulford Chapel 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL with a visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial  in Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford.
