Robert Eugene Lindquist

Robert “Bob” Lindquist, 90, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026, following a brief illness. Bob was born on March 31, 1936, in Rockford, Illinois, to Rueben and Evelyn (Palmer) Lindquist. He graduated from East High School in Rockford and went on to serve his country with distinction, spending four years in the United States Air Force and two years in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, Bob began a long and dedicated career with Essex Wire, where he worked for 36 years before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to providing for his family.

Bob had a lifelong love of sports. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, and bowling throughout the years. He took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard and could often be found relaxing on his back porch, enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Bob also enjoyed antiquing, woodworking, and spending time watching classic Western and cowboy movies. In addition, he proudly served on the board of HCC, contributing his time and talents to the organization.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Judith Lindquist; his children, Robert (Karen) Lindquist and Jodi (Zak) Williams; step sons, Charles and Rick Franta; his grandchildren, Nicole (Bryan) Govan, Destiny Williams, Johnathan Lindhe, Chase Williams, Brittany Shurman, Christina Lindquist, Cody Lindquist, Brandon (Phallen) Lindquist, Ashlea (Nic Aures) Lindquist, Heather Lindquist, Shane Lindquist, Tiffany Patton, and Brandon Higgins; his great-grandchildren, Nikkia Lindquist, Bryan Govan, Johnathan and Bellamy Lindhe, Gemma Shurman, Brandon Jr. and Brayden Lindquist, Abbi Lindquist, Jason Lindquist, Bella Lindquist, Jace McKee, and Brandon Higgins Jr.; his sister, Mary-Ann Propes; his brother, Richard “Dick” Lindquist; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben and Evelyn Lindquist; his wife, Gayle Lindquist; his sons, Kirk Lindquist, Jay Lindquist, and Lonnie Lindquist; his daughter, Jill Nielsen; his granddaughter, Treena Lindquist; and his great-grandson, Zemaj Bean.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses and staff of the 9th Floor South Wing at UW Health, especially Kaitlynn, Laura, Brenden, Amanda, and many others who provided exceptional care and kindness. They would also like to thank Dr. Abou Touk and Dr. Bashir for their dedication and support during Bob’s illness.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N Mulford Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park, IL.
