Rita A. Lundstrum

Rita A. Lundstrum, 70, of Machesney Park passed away peacefully at home on December 29, 2024. Born on January 5, 1954 in Rockford, the daughter of Desmond and Marge (Olson) Johnson. She graduated from Guilford High School. She was a mail carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service. Rita was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and she enjoyed her time with her family boating on the lake. 

Survivors include her father, Desmond and his wife Joan; children, Jacob (Gina) Brogan and Jody Brogan; grandchildren, Hannah (Kyle) Sadewater and Alex Brogan (Emma Tetzlaff); great-grandchildren, Kyle Sadewater, Jr. and Maci Sadewater; sisters, Joan (William) White, Lynn Friedland, Julie (Chris) Linhart and Sue Law; nieces and nephews, Eric White, Matthew (Gina) White, Neil White, Katie (Charlie) Sweet and Rebecca Shotliff. Predeceased by her mother, Marge; brother, Michael Johnson; sister, Susan Shotliff; nephew, Brian White and niece, Erin White.

The family would like to thank the staff with OSF Hospice for their care and compassion. 

Memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2025 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, with a memorial visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A reception will be held at  Fozzy's Bar and Grill, 6246 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park.
