Roscoe – Richard C. "Chief” Lee, 68, was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, July 8, 2012 after coping with the effects of Alzheimers disease. Born June 2, 1944 in Rockford to Charles E. and Jean (Ward) Lee. Richard served in the U.S. Navy. He married Marilyn "Lyn" (Talman) and together raised three children and shared 47 years of marriage, he was a participant of North Park Covenant Church for over 50 years, he loved his Lord. Richard was a loving husband, father and granddad. He was a sensible man,and loved the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed his trips to England to visit with family. Richard left a proud heritage of public service. He served as a deputy for the Winn. Co Sheriff’s Department; Chief of the Village of Winnebago; Chief of the Roscoe Police Dept. and finally retiring in security from Crusader Clinic. Survivors include wife of 47 years, Lyn; sons, David (Tana) and Derek (Nikki) Lee; and daughter, Adrienne (David) Hicks; brothers, Daniel (Joyce), Michael (Pam), and Charles (Jeanne) Lee; sisters Sandra Severson and Linda (Steve) Tapp; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Jacob, Brandon, Holly, Maddux, and McKenna, very special friends, Merle (Lavon) Reese, Lila Murray and Glenn Denny. Pre-deceased by his parents. Special thank you to the staff at Asta Care Center and Passages Hospice for their wonderful care. Funeral services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2012 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory 11342 Main St. Roscoe Chapel. Visitation 4:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the funeral home. Internment immediately following at Willwood Burial Park.
