Richard Douglas Wicker, Sr.

Richard Douglas Wicker, Sr., 71, of Machesney Park passed away November 21, 2021. Born October 3, 1950 in Walnut Ridge, AR, the son of Denver D. and Mildred (Pope) Wicker. Married Barbara Davenport on September 9, 2000. Retired after 30 years from Chrysler. He also was employed by Elite Concrete, Sam’s Plastering and Divine Concrete. In 1967 Richard started drag racing and it eventually turned into a family hobby. He also loved the Chicago White Sox, fishing, gambling and playing cards with friends.  

Survivors include wife, Barbara Wicker; children, Christopher (Tammy) Wicker, Richard (Michelle) Wicker, Jr., Kevin (Trisha) Wicker, Jeromy (Sharon) Wicker, John Morris, Roger (Alyssa) Morris, Michelle Morris; brother, Larry Wicker; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; cousins; and friends. Predeceased by parents; brother, Dicky Joe; and sister, Barbara Wicker Bass.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, November 27, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family to be used in Richard's name at a later date.
