Richard L. Sheehan

Richard L. Sheehan, 84, loving husband of 54 years to Mary Jane Sheehan (nee Zanter) passed away suddenly Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home in Rockford, IL.  Born February 25, 1936 in Caledonia, MN to the late Leslie and Dorothy (Michel) Sheehan, Richard was raised in LaCrosse, WI. He was an Air Force veteran and worked 25 years in production controls at John S. Barnes (Concentric), retiring in 2001. Richard enjoyed traveling, golf, fishing, spending time with his McDonald's friends and was a devoted member of his church. Above all else, he cherished spending time with friends and family and especially loved and was loved by his 7 grandchildren, Anna, Zach, Adeline, Molly, Maggie, Liam and Luka. A selfless, hardworking family man, Richard will be greatly missed by all.

Richard is also survived by his children, Anthony (Barbara) Sheehan, Terri (Kevin) Kinsella and Krista Sheehan; and his siblings, Yvonne (James) Smith, Marilyn (late Peter) Groves, Daniel Sheehan, Gregory (Sarah) Sheehan.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford 61103. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 10, from 5:00 to 7:00pm in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park 61111. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to Cathedral of St. Peter.  Masks and social distancing observed. Inurnment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
