Richard R. Brown

Richard R. Brown, 81, of Rockford, died on September 4, 2022, in the hospital surrounded by family. Born April 4, 1941 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, son of Howard and Rosetta (Ross) Brown. Married for 48 years to Judy (Haile) Brown on April 28, 1962 who passed on January 21, 2010. Married Nenita (Secretaria) Brown on August 8, 2015. Richard loved and provided for his family, was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a veteran and proud of his years of naval service. He was a member of Berean Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 7 years, Nenita (Secretaria) Brown; children, Rev. Jeffrey R. (Lisa) Brown, Stilwell, OK, Curtis H. Brown, Rockford, Cassandra D. (Rev. John) Buckley, Pennsburg, PA, Cynthia L. Philpott, Rockford, Susan G. (Rev. Chantha) Chhim, Sheffield, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Jeffrey's are Ashley (Jesse Craighead), Lauren (Brad Andrews) and Haley Brown; Curtis's are Kyle and Micah Brown; Cassandra's are Christopher, (Hayley) Tori, Amber, Caleb, and Andrew Buckley; Cynthia's are Austin, Zachary (Caitlyn Stanbery) and Sydni Philpott; and Susan's are Caleb, Corban, and Carter Chhim; Great-Grandchildren: Emma & Layla Craighead, Declan Andrews and Xavier Philpott; one brother, Donald Brown (Long Beach, CA); The step-children, Sharon (Peter) Canonigo, Eric John Secretaria, Angel Bert Secretaria, Ralph Nikko Secretaria, Bianca Monique Secretaria; The step-grandchildren are Zander and Zaiden Canonigo. Predeceased by his first wife; parents; one brother, Terry Brown; and two infant grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 12:00pm, Saturday, September 10, 2022 in Berean Baptist Church, 5626 Safford, Rockford 61101, with Pastor Jeffrey Brown and Pastor Mark Swanson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Burial will be in Willwood Burial Park. 

The children of Richard Brown would like to express special acknowledgment and gratitude to Nenita Brown for how well she cared for our Dad in sickness and in health. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Berean Baptist Church & School Staff Christmas Bonus.
