Richard Thoms Prinzing, 84, of Rockford, was born to Robert and DeLores Prinzing on June 16, 1940. He was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Richard had two siblings named Robert and Delores. He was the middle child. Richard died in his home in New Milford, Illinois on November 11, 2024. He was surrounded by his family that he loved. From 1960-1965 he served in the U.S. Air Force as a medic. He was a proud American. Every time he saw a flag, he would salute it. After the service, he attended Judson College in Elgin, Illinois, and met the love of his life, Joan Barden. They got married on May 24, 1969. From 1970 to 1974 they had three daughters, Wanda DeLores, Rebecca Lynn and Tonya Marie. Dick would always say that he lived in a girls dorm. He said that he was the minority of the house. When his girls got married, he was happy not to be in the minority anymore. He got very excited when he got his grandkids.
Dick had seven grandchildren. Wanda and Garry's kids are Alec, Kevin and Alexandria. Rebecca's (Sean and Michael) kids are Trever and Jeremiah. Tonya and Joe's kids are Kristen and Zachariah. Dick had five great-grandchildren. Alec (Mackenzie) have Ollie, Aurora and Amelia. Jeremiah (Katherine) have Olivia-Grace and Maxx. Dick was predeceased by his parents and son-in-law, Michael Gerard.
Dick's hobby was working on the family tree. He informed us that on our mom's side our ancestor came to America on the Mayflower. Dick also made God a priority in himself and his family. Dick did the organization of the library at his church, the Dwelling Place. And in earlier years, he was the Superintendent of Sunday School at Riverside Assembly of God Church in Rockford. He was also a firm believer in prayer.
