Richard George Kenders, 85, of Rockford passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018. Born in Camden, New Jersey to George and Kathryn (Faunce) Kenders. He grew up in Barrington, NJ and Runnemede, NJ. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He drove semi trucks and Greyhound buses for over one million miles, accident free. He loved model trains, classical music, and when he was younger, his hobbies were flying planes and deep-sea fishing. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and was always praying for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; step-children, John (Andra) Straley, Jodie (Carl) Ralston and Jason (Hannah) Turner; step-grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Kaley, Lisa, Andrea, Sara, Michael, Grayson and Milo; step-great-grandchildren, Vanessa, Eli and Amelia. Predeceased by his parents; one brother and one sister.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 5304 Charles St., Rockford, Illinois 61108.
