Rhonda L. Nelson

Rhonda L. Nelson, 65, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home with her children and granddaughter by her side on Sunday, August 17, 2025.  She was born in Rockford on August 22, 1959 to Robert and Lillian (Meier) Snygg.  She was an East High School graduate and was a paraprofessional in the Rockford Public School District 205 for 20+ years, retiring in May, 2025.  Rhonda enjoyed watching cooking shows, playing darts, garage sales, spending time with family, going on walks, sitting outside watching hummingbirds, and eating dark chocolate candy.

She is survived by her children, Jason (Amber) Nelson, Chris Nelson and Stephanie Nelson; granddaughter, Chloe; sisters, Val Loy, Cindy (Ashoka) Bhargava and Kathy Snygg; and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband, Mike Nelson; parents, Robert and Lillian Snygg; and brother, Mark Snygg.

A special thanks to OSF Hospice for their care of Rhonda.
