Our beloved Dr. Ray is finally at peace after a lengthy illness. Raymond was born in Chicago to Margaret (Ritti) and Raymond Jarek, Sr. on April 28, 1953. He graduated from Wheeling High School, obtained his associates degree from Rainey College and went on to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. He met many friends through being part of Pi Kappa Chi Fraternity with whom he traveled after graduation. In 1988 Dr. Ray moved his practice to Loves Park, IL and would meet the love of his life, Jill (Magnuson). Ray and Jill were married in Rockford on May 19, 1990, he then moved his practice to Woodstock, IL before ultimately making his way back to Loves Park where together they built The Spinal Care Center on Mulford.  Dr. Ray had a special bond with his patients and enjoyed every moment of getting to know them, their families and hearing stories about their lives. Everyone who knew Ray, or knew of him, would describe him as “such a Good Man”.  

Ray and Jill were married 32 years and enjoyed traveling together, working on the home and yard they built and spending time with their daughter and her husband, Erica (Johnson) and Wayne Leming; and grandsons, Kaiden Steurer and Carssen Leming of Rockford, IL.  

Ray is survived by his wife and family; mother-in-law, Shirley Magnuson; brother-in-law, Randy (Cheryl) Magnuson; niece, Karen (Jaret) Deite, Lauren and Bryan; nephew, Larry (Erin) Knoll; and great-aunts, Marilyn Ingold and Carm Ritti.

Ray is predeceased by his parents; sister, Leah (Larry) Knoll; father-in-law, Ronald Magnuson; brother-in-law, Bruce; uncles, George, Dom and Joe. 

Special thank you for the care and compassion of Ralph and Barb Seaworth and Daisy, and devotion of the incredible team at Serenity Hospice, especially Dr. Kalweit, CJ, Chloe, Jen and Becky. 

Funeral service will be at held 4:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2022 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 2:00 PM until time of service.
