Penni Bunnell Obituary

Penni Kaye Bunnell (Schacht), 59, of Rockford, IL passed away with her beloved children by her side on Friday, June 24, 2022 in her home after a 25-year battle with a debilitating and chronically painful muscle disease.

Penni is survived by her mother and step-father, Carole and Donald Johnson; siblings, Vicki Bates (Michael), Becki Schacht, Alan (Rodella) Schacht, Aaron (Pam) Schacht, and Tom (Helen) Schacht; children, Amber (Michael) Sallis, Justin (Charlotte) Bunnell, Andrew (Samantha) Schacht and Ashley Moriarity;  grandchildren, Darian, Abigail, Madilyn, Cameron, Claire, Meerah, Kieran, Toni Michelle, Charlie, Julissa, Michael, Alijawon and Kara;  her beloved aunt, Joan Schacht;  lifelong friends, Todd Bankord, Tracey McMaster-Pierce and Johnny, Lori Holman, Diana Casey, and Peachy Foster along with numerous cousins; nieces; nephews; and beloved friends who called her "PENSTER".

Penni was born on April 5, 1963, in Winona, Minnesota. She was the third of six children. The family moved to Rockford just before Penni started school. She attended Seward Grade School and Jean McNair Middle School until 8th grade. Penni attended Pecatonica Highschool, the Class of 1981. Penni had various jobs throughout the years but the one she enjoyed the most was her time at Precision Cycle as Parts Manager.  This is where Penni found her Harley family.  Every rider in town knew and loved Penni at Precision. She loved her rides to Sturgis and Daytona Beach with her fellow bikers. Until 1997, when she slipped down a set of stairs and injured her sympathetic nerve which resulted in Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy and began her 25-year journey of constant pain.

Despite the pain, Penni found great happiness in raising her four children and living life to the fullest.  She later welcomed eight grandchildren and they certainly were the light of her life.  Penni relied on her faith in the Lord to overcome many obstacles.  Her favorite thing to pass the time was to color pictures to share with her Facebook family.

Penni had many lifelong friends and family that cherished her many phone calls and uplifting conversations.  For the last several years she could not leave the house but she made sure everyone knew how much she loved them and meant to her every opportunity she got.

Penni was a warrior, a fighter, an optimist, brave, loving and caring and worried more about others than herself.  The entire community will miss her dearly but find peace that she finally is free of pain and home with her Lord.

Preceded in death by her father, Lyman E. Schacht; paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles; and her nephew, Jay William.
