Pegie Polec Obituary

Pegie Polec of Machesney Park, IL passed away peacefully after a fierce fight with cancer on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the age of 69. She was born in Morton Grove, IL and married Ron on May 26, 1973. Pegie worked as a Behavioral Health Administrator for addiction, abuse, and autistic children for over 8 years in Arizona. Prior to that she worked in Las Vegas for over 15 years, with her favorite job being a buyer at Eldorado hotel/casino. Pegie’s favorite month was December because Christ was born, you can buy presents that make people happy and decorations are so pretty. She was also very patriotic, lining the driveway every year with flags in July. Pegie was a foody taking pictures of her food constantly, enjoying cooking, going to fairs and live comedians and plays. Pegie enjoyed sweets, her family, daily talks with brother, texts with daughter, her grandchildren and her beloved dogs and bird. She was an avid animal lover, feeding birds, protecting a bunny nest and even a wild turkey. She adopted Curly teaching him I love You and his name. Pegie came to live with her sister in her time of need and definitely was her Rock and BEST FRIEND. She sacrificed living close to the grandkids, whom she dearly missed but loved talking to Max on the phone and mani pedis and shopping when Madison visited. Pegie never complained, even in pain, she was a very giving person of herself to others. Pegie will be greatly missed by family and friends but is pain free in a better place and will be able to see loved ones that went before her. She is forever smiling now.

Pegie is loved and will be missed by her sisters, Debbie Pabst, Vicki Yow (Kurt), Cherie Edick; brother, Ricky Pabst; daughters, Mary Hemker (Corey), Lisa Haake; grandchildren, Madison and Max Hemker, Chandler Haake and several others; nieces, Pattie Haake, Donna Santel, Whitney Albright, Kelsei Yow and Chelsey Edick; nephews, John Haake, Dylan Pabst; and much loved 2 and 4 legged kids, Casey, Curly, Lulu and Gessie. She was predeceased by husband, Ron; son, Gene; parents, Barb and Don; sister, Linda; brother-in-law, Ben; and 4 legged kids, Max and Sandy.

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until time of service.
