Myron D. Welsh, Jr., 72, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was born in Rockford on November 25, 1951 to Myron D. and Norma (Remich) Welsh, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War from March 8, 1971 to November 8, 1971. He married Pamela (Nelson) Welsh on November 10, 1973. Myron retired in 2014 as a Manufacturing/Quality Engineer from Taylor Company. He was a volunteer with the Citizens Assisting Police (CAPs) program with the Rockford Police Department and also as a Robotic Coach with Marshall School. He worked on family genealogy since 1975 and had researched and documented several thousands of pages of family history dating back to the 1500's. He enjoyed riding bicycles and target shooting with his grandchildren and taking road trips with Pam, his wife of over 50 years. He also enjoyed weekly Bible studies at Salem Lutheran Church. Myron was quite the "social butterfly" and enjoyed meeting new people.
Survived by his wife, Pam Welsh; son, Sean (Kim J.) Welsh and their children, Riley and Brady Welsh; daughter, Sara (Jeff Germann) Welsh and Sara's daughter, Karma Peppers. He will be missed by his brother, Marc (Kim R.) Welsh; sister, Karen "Chicken Mama" Welsh; brother-in-law, Brad (Barb) Nelson; as well as several other cousins, nieces and nephews along with countless friends. Predeceased by his parents.
Graveside service to be at 10:00am on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, 6202 Charles Street, Rockford, IL 61108. A Celebration of Life for Myron will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the SM&SF Club, 1010 Sandy Hollow Rd., Rockford, IL 61109, also on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted by the family and later given to the Citizens Assisting Police (CAPs) program of the Rockford Police Department on Myron's behalf.
