Michael "North" John Combs

Michael “North” John Combs, peacefully passed away with family by his side on August 17, 2021.  Mike was born to Lester and Edna Combs on March 11, 1950 in San Diego, CA. Mike enjoyed his childhood immensely with his twin and five other brothers on their Belvidere family farm.

Drafted at the age of 20. Serving honorably with the US Army as a Ranger in the 101st Airborne Division, Special Forces, in Vietnam. Never missing an opportunity to increase his income to benefit his young family back home. After serving his country, Mike became an owner/operator of his own Semi truck, enjoying the open road. Spending time between Illinois and Arizona, he loved to be "out west" and recently retired from FCA-Chrysler in 2018.

Mike loved to share life's adventures, traveling with his wife Jody and leaving memories and his "words of wisdom" along the way.  Mike fulfilled his dream to become a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, with the Illinois Nomads for 13 years and the Rockford Charter for 5 years. Forever a Hells Angel.

Mike is survived by his wife Jody of 18 years; and his blended family, Steve (Kay) Combs, Bill Combs, Pat Combs; his children, Mike Combs, Jr., Josh Combs, Melissa Flores, Tosha Flores, Josh (Lindsay) Dannenberg, Nicole Dannenberg; grandchildren, Kassondra, Alex, Andrew, Gabriel, Xavier, Omar, Jonathon, Gwendelynn, Sydney, Cassandra (Princess); great grandson, Aaron; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by parents, Lester and Edna Combs; and brothers, Bob and Buck Combs.

Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the American Legion Post 1207, 1011 South Alpine Road, Rockford, IL 61108. His final ride will end in the peaceful Arizona desert. Please bring a photo or memory of Mike to add to his memory banner.
