Melissa J. Hockison

Melissa Joyce (Bennett) Hockison, 58, of Rockford, IL passed away in her home on October 29, 2024. Melissa and her twin sister, Teressa, were born December 27, 1965, to Gail Bennett and Joyce (Spencer) Bennett. Melissa was a beloved daughter and sister, and a fierce and loving mother. She was a strong-willed, free spirit with a heart of gold. The only title she loved more than Twin or Mom was Grandma. She adored her grand-babies and they fervently returned her adoration. 

Melissa is survived by her mother, Joyce Bennett; brothers, David Bennett and Phillip Bennett; sister, Teressa Bennett; children, John (Tammy) Chandler and Tabitha (Christopher) Doyens; grandchildren, Easton Chandler, Jackson Doyens and Griffin Doyens; and many nieces and nephews. Melissa is preceded in death by father, Gail Bennett; brothers, Gaylon Bennett and Thomas Bennett. 

Per Melissa’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Melissa would invite you to raise your beer and your middle finger, and dance with those you love with the music all the way up.
