Mary Jean Samuelson, Rockford, IL, went to be with the Lord on May 24, 2026.
Mary was born to Paul and Norma Bollinger in Sharon, Wisconsin, on June 28, 1928.
She married Phil Samuelson in 1950. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2015.
Mary Jean attended Rockford Business College and was employed as a Legal Secretary with the law firm of Page, Clark, and Heaslip.
Mary enjoyed square dancing and her cats. She also loved collecting plates, bells, and many Christmas ornaments. Mary was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Mary Jean is survived by sons Dale (Carolyn) Samuelson, Larry (Sharline) Samuelson, Bruce Samuelson and stepdaughter Esther Samuelson Johnson (Ross); grandchildren David Samuelson and Kristi (Mike) Redenius, Mark (Jenny Sessions) Samuelson, Brian (Rebecca Eshbaugh) Samuelson, and Samantha (Jason Allmares) Samuelson, and Kirsten (Kelly) Hessenthaler and Erika Arnold; great-grandchildren Lauren and Brendan Redenius, Benjamin and David Samuelson, James and Peter Samuelson, Connor and Teagan Allison, and Cameron Arnold; brother Ralph
Bollinger, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Norma Bollinger; her husband, Philip Samuelson; her son, Barry Samuelson; and her sisters, Helen and Ruth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, at First Lutheran Church, 225 S 3rd St, Rockford, IL 61104, at 11:30 AM, with a visitation starting at 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
